APBM Code of Professional Ethics

Business professionals who hold the Certified Associate Business Manager (CABM) Designation or the Certified Business Manager (CBM) Designations or who are APBM Members must adhere to the following Code of Professional Ethics:

* The business professional must have honesty and integrity in dealing with his employers, coworkers, customers, vendors, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and other business partners. He will avoid situations involving conflicts of interest.

* The business professional must seek goal congruence in that his personal goals must blend with his organization’s goals.

* The business professional must be objective and prudent in making decisions during the course of traditional business as well as electronic business transactions.

* The business professional must keep his organization’s sensitive business information confidential and must not share this information with others for either personal or financial gain.

* The business professional must not compromise his ethical values and standards and must not be a party to illegal or unauthorized business transactions.

Violation of any one of the above ethical principles will lead to disciplinary actions such as suspension/termination of APBM Membership and revocation of the CABM or the CBM Certificate, thus providing an exit point from the profession.

Each CABM or CBM certification holder must physically sign the Code of Professional Ethics document every year to demonstrate commitment to the above ethical principles and to meet the recertification requirements.
