What is the CABM Credential?
The CABM stands for the Certified Associate Business Manager. The CABM Credential is earned by passing the CABM Exam, which is a standardized exam based on a pre-MBA curriculum. The CABM (1) begins the transition from a business specialist to a business generalist and (2) provides preparation for the rigor of an MBA and/or the Certified Business Manager (CBM) Credential.

What is covered on the CABM Exam?
The CABM Exam covers the following ten Learning Modules:
• General Management, Leadership, and Strategy
• Operations Management
• Marketing Management
• Quality and Process Management
• Human Resources Management
• Accounting
• Finance
• Information Technology
• Corporate Control, Law, Ethics, and Governance
• International Business

Who administers the CABM Credential?
Founded in 2000, The Association of Professionals in Business Management (APBM) is a non-profit educational organization that administers the CABM and CBM Exams and confers the CABM and CBM Credentials. APBM’s mission is to make business management a profession. When compared to law, medicine, engineering, and nursing, business management was not and still is not organized as a profession. As such, APBM set out to establish the components of any profession: uniform knowledge standards, standardized exams, code of professional ethics, continuing education, and research/practice standards.

What is the profile of CABM Certificants?
• 60 % of CABM candidates are men, 40 % are women
• While the CABM is a global credential, candidates are currently predominantly from Canada, China, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, UAE and the USA.
• CABM candidates come from a range of educational backgrounds with a predominance in: engineering, computer sciences, accounting, finance, liberal arts, and medicine
• Current employers of CABM candidates and certification holders include: IBM, PWC, Ernst & Young, Samsung, Adobe, Microsoft, HSBC, Oracle, Tata Consultancy Services, Disney, Wipro, Cisco, Merrill Lynch, McKinsey, Infosys, etc.

Which business schools recognize the CABM Credential?
Please click here to view the policy statements from various business schools.

What if I want to apply to a business school other than those with whom you have established educational pathways?

APBM can send the official CABM Transcript to any business school or employer the CABM Certificant designates. The transcript will be placed in the applicant’s file along side any other educational accomplishments.

How much does it cost?
The total cost for the CABM Exam is $988 USD. Clients of Aringo are eligible for a $50 discount and a free copy of the Official Guide for GMAT Review (12th Edition).

Are there eligibility requirements?
No. Everyone is eligible to take the CABM Exam because APBM believes that a pre-MBA curriculum should be accessible to everyone.

How will the CABM help me on my job?
The CABM/CBM Credentials provide the context in which one moves from being a silo or functional thinker to a enterprise or strategic thinker. To an organization, the CABM/CBM Credentials mean that it can have confidence in an individual's cross-functional knowledge standards in business management. In other words, a previous business specialist is now a business generalist.

How does one study for the CABM?
Please click here to view the online educational experience when studying for the CABM/CBM Credentials. It generally takes an individual anywhere from two to four months to study and take the exam.

Where is the CABM Exam held?
The CABM Exam is held six times a year at Pearson VUE Testing Centers worldwide, the same place as where the GMAT is held. The exam time is four hours.

How does the CABM Exam compare to the GMAT?
The GMAT is an assessment test focused on non-core business skills like reading comprehension, grammar, and mathematical ability. The CABM is a professional certification that tests core business skills. The CABM can be earned either before or after the GMAT; however, our CABMs indicate that studying for the CABM provides them with practice for the GMAT, especially for reading comprehension and quantitative skills.

Are there any testimonials?
"I am an engineer and don't have any exposure to business right now. I would like to earn an MBA at some point in my career but I'm not sure what I'd like to major in. I'm earning the CABM to see which business subjects would be of interest to study further. This way, I can include my post-business school plans in my admissions essays."
- V. H., who works for a leading German engineering company

"I decided to earn the CABM because reviewing the CABM syllabus was enough for me to realize how much there is to know about business and management principles. I know I need to understand business if I want a promotion or get into business school.”
R. R., who works in operations and supply-chain management

"There are a lot of people in IT who want to apply to the top business schools. Earning the CABM is a great way to differentiate myself from other IT professionals because I now know IT and business."
- S. A., who works for a leading global bank

“The CABM is one of the hardest exams I’ve taken in my career, but it equipped me with the skills necessary to manage a staff of nine-direct reports.”
