President & CEO – Ms. Devi Vallabhaneni
Ms. Devi Vallabhaneni received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Major in Accountancy and graduated with high honors. Devi’s career started at Arthur Andersen’s Litigation Services practice in Chicago where she worked on numerous damage claims projects for large litigation matters. She then helped start the Litigation Services practice at Arthur Andersen’s Singapore and Hong Kong offices.
Returning back to school, Devi received her MBA from the Harvard Business School. With her MBA, Devi worked for Gap, Inc. in international business development as well as Gap Online’s business development where she was responsible for devising expansion strategies for Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy brands. After Gap, Devi worked in equity research focusing on specialty retailing at Montgomery Securities in San Francisco. Companies such as Gap, Ann Taylor, Abercrombie & Fitch, and the Limited were amongst her coverage. Prior to joining the Association, she served as Senior Director, Business Development for NextDoor Networks, an internet company focusing on digital infrastructure for service-based businesses.
She is a CPA and has completed Part I of the CFA exam. She is the author of the MBA IQ Workbook and is the daughter of Professor Vallabhaneni. She was previously on the board of Harvard Business School Club of Chicago and is currently on the HBS Admissions Board.
In her spare time, Devi is creating a vast personal library of questions about global fashion, retail, and textiles – industries that are her personal passions and where she started her career. In high school and college, Devi worked for Marshall Fields and Benetton, and during HBS, she completed a Field Study project for the CEO of Tiffany & Company. She is excited that she can marry her current career in business education and her first career in fashion, retail, and textiles.
Certifications and Exams – Professor S. Rao Vallabhaneni
Professor S. Rao Vallabhaneni is an educator, author, publisher, and practitioner in the business field with more than 30 years of management experience in manufacturing, finance, auditing, accounting, and information technology. He has taught at several universities in Chicago, Illinois, teaching finance, accounting, auditing, and operations to undergraduates and graduate business students.
Professor Vallabhaneni founded SRV Professional Publications in 1990 to serve the knowledge needs of business professionals. He has written more than 60 trade books, study guides, and review materials for the CIA, CISA, CCP, CISSP, CITP, SSCP, and CBA professional certification exams. Professor Vallabhaneni holds four master’s degrees in management, accounting, industrial/ systems engineering, and chemical engineering. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Development Program at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
He holds 24 professional certifications in the business field, including CIA, CISA, CBA, CFSA, CFE, CPA, CMA, CGFM, CCP, CDP, CSP, CISSP, ABCP, CITP, CPIM, CQA, CQIA, CQM, CSQE, CRP, CPM, and PHR in the areas of management,auditing, accounting, finance, human resources management, information technology, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing.
Strategy and Marketing – Melissa Hayes
Ms. Melissa Hayes received her B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University with honors and a MBA from The Harvard Business School. Melissa teamed up with Devi in 2010 to work on MBA IQ and is proud to be an organizational founder. In addition to being a Co-Founder of MBA IQ, Melissa is employed by MillerCoors where she manages the sales operations for the Walmart and Sam’s Club account team. Prior to MillerCoors, she was a consultant with the global consultancy McKinsey & Company in their Chicago Office. At McKinsey she was a member of the firm’s Organization practice and focused primarily on Organization and Strategy engagements for Consumer Packaged Goods and Retail Companies.
Prior to receiving her MBA, Melissa worked in Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley both in Chicago, IL and New York, NY where she served General Industrial and Healthcare clients both on Corporate Finance /Capital Raising projects and M&A advisory. Melissa took a break from the private sector in 2004 to serve as the Director of Operations for a global network of women in business based in Greenwich, CT – “The 85 Broads Network”. While there she developed membership programs and partnership initiatives to double the membership base and increase media exposure for the organization.
Melissa has lived in Chicago for the better part of the past 12 years. Melissa has a passion for building the pipeline of future women business leaders and is a frequent mentor and speaker to students at Northwestern University, Harvard, and beyond. She is the founder of the HBS Women’s Student Association Alumnae Advisory Board and a former board member of the HBS Club of Chicago. Melissa is an avid runner, loves art, movies, reading, and travel.
